The standard increased immensely in the second game against Monkstown and Enniscorthy found themselves a goal behind after the Monkstown forward capitalised on a rare defensive error. Adam Hill made a series of fine saves to keep his teammates in the game. A piece of inspiration from Brian Smith lead to an equaliser. After beating 2 players he slipped the ball off to Jamie Walsh who had goal on his mind and finished off with a cool strike. Enniscorthy grew in confidence now and we were unfortunate to concede again. It finished a loss by the odd goal.
YMCA were next and proved to be a strong team. It wasn’t long before Enniscorthy found themselves 2 goals down. Enniscorthy appeared a beaten team. However, Mervyn Rogan made a strong tackle at right back where he fed Matthew Kelly who ran the length of the pitch before crossing to Alan Hawkins who found the YMCA backboard. Tadgh English won a lot of ball for Enniscorthy through pressuring the Dubliner backs. This pressure lead to more ventures into the opposition circle and when Daniel Murphy found himself inside the circle he made no mistake and grabbed the equaliser. Ennsicorthy dominated the remainder but were unable to grab the winner.
Coaches Roy Chapman and David Medcalf were delighted with the performances and were particularly impressed with the performance of Adam Hill in the pads.
