First up was a Friday night trip for the second team as they travelled to Dublin to D4’s Serpentine Avenue to take on Pembroke Wanderers. In what was a great performance by the South East men saw them come home with all three points in a 3-1 win. Enniscorthy’s three goals came from Rory Maguire and Eamon Sweeney from play and the third from Mick Jordan from a short corner. Pembroke didn’t give up and scored their goal from a short corner in the second half.
Saturday saw Enniscorthy second men’s team make another trip to Dublin, this time to take on St. James Gate. The previous meetings of both sides saw a close game with St. James Gate winning with a result of 1-0. In this encounter the home side come out victorious in a 2-1 game. Rory Maguire scored the Wexford men’s only goal, in what was almost a carbon copy of his goal from Friday night against Pembroke Wanderer’s.
Enniscorthy seconds team had a great first season and shows with some great results and in a team that has experience and youth, the future is bright for our hockey club.
