Meanwhile, the under 16 girls A side took on Donnybrook side – and league leaders - Muckross at the Astro Active Centre on Sunday.
Enniscorthy went into the game hoping for a solid performance ahead of their forthcoming Junior Jacqui Potter Cup Plate semi final, and they duly delivered. While Muckross won two penalty corners in the first half and shaded the possession stakes, the defensive quartet of Mahon, Smith, Graham and O'Brien proved more than equal to the task. In fact, Enniscorthy could have taken the lead but Caoimhe Larkin – attacking from the left wing – saw her shot go narrowly wide, missing the post by millimetres.
The second half was an end to end thriller as both sides fought hard for a win. Muckross won three penalty corners – none of which troubled Enniscorthy's goalkeeper McGinty. Enniscorthy's midfield – Farrell, Kidd and Rogan (with Farrell later making way for Susannah Doyle) – worked hard throughout.
A point gained for Enniscorthy and a first time for Muckross to be held scoreless this season in all competitions.
