Enniscorthy were leading 1-0 within the first 7 minutes, a quick pass finding Lillian Howlin and she was able to bury the ball in the back of the net.
Solid defensive play between at the back made life extremely difficult for the Carlow attack, though Carlow were able to win a short corner soon after the opening score. This, though, produced an excellent save from goalkeeper Aoife Foran, and the ball was well cleared to the wings by Kim O' Connor. Throughout the first half there was excellent passages of play and passing by the Slaneysiders, with excellent attacking movements made by Aoileann Hourihane, Niamh Buttle, Caroline Doyle, Orlaith Breen and Meagan Petzke. Carlow were able to equalise shortly before half time, and found the lead in the second half, before winnig by two clear goals.
Despite the defeat, the Enniscorthy management team of Irene Doyle, Ivanna Yates and Jacinta Kinsella can be satisfied with one of their side's best performances of the season, and one which augurs well for the future.
