Enniscorthy had two teams and the 8 a side format on half a pitch really suited our players. In most blitzes sixth class play on only one third of a pitch but the extra space allows the girls to play a style of hockey they are well able for. In the last few weeks the Enniscorthy players have really improved in skill and strength and can now move the ball quickly and competently around the bigger pitch.
Both teams played Gorey in our first game and a score line of 3-2 was the final result on both pitches. One win and one loss. This was a strong result as Gorey were playing a majority of first years.
In the games against Wicklow again we had one victory and one defeat. Our winning team looked very convincing in this game and while the other team lost the Wicklow team was older and physically a little stronger. In total Enniscorthy scored 17 goals on the day. Not a bad tally for 4 games!
Next week sixth class combine with fifth for a blitz against Wexford and Gorey. We look forward to some more great hockey from this group of very promising players.
