
Enniscorthy got things started taking the push back but were immediately faced with an attacking Wexford team. Enniscorthy ladies held strong in defence, 8 minutes in Enniscorthy conceded their first long corner followed by a run of short corners, all the while Enniscorthy ladies’ defence holding strong with a great team effort by Leah Chapman and Nancy Dunphy. Goalie Fiona Rothwell forced to pull off two great saves in quick succession in the 24th minute.
Enniscorthy's strong attacking efforts by midfielders Olive Lett, Gemma Kelly, and Vice captain Deirdre Kehoe were unable to break through Wexford ladies. The score board at half time showing 0-0, Wexford again came out attacking in the start of the second half, with defender Julie Watchorn putting off Wexford ladies, forwards forcing them to go wide. Wexford continue to press, causing Enniscorthy to concede further short corners, again Enniscorthy’s defence faught hard, Carlow broke Enniscorthy's defence scoring in the 53rd minute with a shot into the bottom left corner of the goal.
Enniscorthy ladies did not give up and continued to search for an equaliser, with a shot by Captain Lisa Frayne narrowly missing the goal. Olive Lett also showed great determination with forward Sonja Rynhart, unfortunately this was to no avail.
Vice Captain Deirdre Kehoe showed her commitment to the game coming back to support the defensive team, making a sensational diving save in the 69th minute keeping the final score to 1-0.
