The Enniscorthy women’s second eleven hosted local rivals Gorey 1st earlier today. The home team started strong with some strong running by Ciara Murphy. Unfortunately Gorey's strong midfield worked the ball back up the pitch to secure an early goal through Lyndsey Walters. The north county side quickly doubled their lead following a penalty corner, Imogen McGuinness converting from the penalty spot. Two down, a determined Enniscorthy side fought back to win a penalty corner which was struck well by Buttle but was well defended by a strong Gorey line. A second penalty corner was also defended to the disappointment of Gainford who struck the ball well. The strong Gorey side continued to put Enniscorthy under pressure in the circle with some great saves by keeper Medcalf. The second half saw some great defensive play by Emer Doherty in particular. However, Gorey secured another two goals – completing a hattrick for Walters- to bring an end to a very disappointing day for the ladies seconds.
