The hosts began brightly with an early goal from Jason Rothwell to settle any nerves before Eamonn Sweeney doubled the lead five minutes later – his third goal since the return from the Christmas break.
To put an even great gloss on proceedings, on the final whistle a shot from Jason Rothwell took a wicked deflection off a Portrane defender to leave the final score 3-0.
This was a performance full of effort across the pitch; Clive Rothwell in defence made a number of vital interceptions and his aerials proved adept at relieving Portrane pressure and setting up the Enniscorthy attack. Further up the field Hogan and Roy Chapman linked up well together while Sweeney held up the ball well throughout.
The result leaves Enniscorthy four points behind Bray with a game in hand; Saturday sees the Slaneysiders travel to Dublin to take on bottom side Dublin University III.
