The home side found the going difficult in the opening period as the south Dublin side took a hold on the game at midfield, and indeed had an excellent opportunity foiled on 20 minutes when a goal-bound effort from a short corner was blocked by the onrushing Costello.
At the interval the game was finely balanced at 0-0, and following some personnel switches Enniscorthy shifted proceedings in their favour, but it was the visitors who got the opening goal, Chris Steele scoring.
The Wexford side were finally able to exert pressure on the visiting defence and produce a series of short corners, with midfielder Mick Jordan and forward Robbie Walshe causing plenty of problems, while Alan Smith at centre midfield provided plenty of industry. However, they could find no way through a well- marshalled Rovers defence.
Minutes from the end 'Rock struck again, a long downfield pass finding Simon Walker, who outfoxed Greg Hawkins and squeezed the ball into the bottom left corner past Luke Doyle in the Enniscorthy net.
